Friendly Neighbors

We got a 3/4 acre plot to the side of the current space that serves no function other than mowing. A neighbor has kept horses on it linked to another 3 acre plot to keep us from having to mow. Well I got to the space one morning and the neighbor had planted us a vegetable garden. Wow that man is a hard working saint. He said “The plants were cheap and I didn’t want to waste them” . He planted 70 tomato plants, numerous squash, water melons, pumpkins, and others. It will be a bounty at T.I.T. this year.

A stable and fast internet connection, another problem we have had over the past couple of years. Well our rural cable got the boot and we are in with the city boys(Cableone). Before it was Dail-up, Satellite then EVDO, and finally an actual real connection to feed our network. DSL was tested but unavailable. Our speeds are around 5/2 so not bad for a country connection. We could pay more(triple) and double those numbers but who wants to?

Been thinking

We got a nice space, privately owned, no rent, plenty of distance to neighbors. For a rural group we would need to pitch in more money each to get a space of our own. Our current set-up is great but access is limited to most and it is not very public/inviting. There are a few spaces around downtown that rent for $300+ which is cheap but other expenses come about. A couple of us scouted a downtown location that had plenty of parking and in a “cool” nieghborhood. But all of us cheap/broke/whatever assholes would have to fork over some more dimes. Discuss

We are here you are there. Get over here now.

Being in a mostly rural area we don’t expect much action/inquiry about our lil’ hackerspace. But I will be sure to fling something on this page every once in a while to let others know we are still kicking.

We tend to communicate in the meatspace better so come a visit.
